One of the most famous cafes in the world is "Les Deux Magots" which is in the Saint Germain-de-Pres arrondisement of Paris. For many years, I've always thought it was translated as "The two maggots"--wrong!
Last time we were there, I was informed by one of the waiters that it had something to do with China. I nearly cried. Hey, wait a minute! The name didn't change, only the meaning. So why is this place famous?
Well, it was frequented by none other than Jean-Paul Sartre, Ernest Hemingway, Camus, Picasso, James Joyce, James Baldwin, etc. Does this mean it's a touristy place? Yes, it does. By the way, the waiters have obviously flunked charm school, but don't take it personally. Also, check to see if the milk is fresh. Debbie got some curdled milk once. But she's fine now.
Seriously, the food is pretty good.
Enjoy!
