Our Favorite Restaurants in Paris: Part 6 'La Tour d'Argent' in Paris

La Tour d'Argent is one of the finest restaurants in the world. They claim it was founded in 1582, and it introduced the fork to Europe. It's located at 15 quai de la Tournelle, just off the Seine. If you can afford it, it will be something that you will remember the rest of your life. The furnishings are beautiful. The food is tremendous. The service is impeccable. The house specialty is pressed duck. Don't worry about the wine. They will do their best to accomodate

Our Favorite Restaurants in Paris: Part 5 'Les Deux Magots' in Paris

One of the most famous cafes in the world is "Les Deux Magots" which is in the Saint Germain-de-Pres arrondisement of Paris. For many years, I've always thought it was translated as "The two maggots"--wrong! Last time we were there, I was informed by one of the waiters that it had something to do with China. I nearly cried. Hey, wait a minute! The name didn't change, only the meaning. So why is this place famous? Well, it was frequented by none other than Jean-Paul Sartr

Our Favorite Restaurants in Paris: Part 4: 'La Coupole' in Paris

La Coupole is famous for it's Art Deco style and a painted dome. It's also famous for the actors (and eccentrics) that frequent the place. Unfortunately, you won't be able to recognize them (unless you are French). Sometimes, if you ask a waiter they might tell you. We have seen many American celebrities there. Once, we were seated at a table next to a very famous person who was entertaining two lovely young blondes who looked like they spent every day working out in a gy

Our Favorite Restaurants in Paris: Part 3: 'The Brassierie Bofinger' in Paris

Here is another restaurant review by Marshall from his and Debbie's experience dining when they return to Paris (plus enjoyed while experiencing 'Tripping 1975') - The Brassierie Bofinger! "When you get to Paris, it is only natural to see the great museums, the Eiffel Tower, Sacre Coeur, etc. You will be exhausted when you finally get back to your hotel. The last thing you will want to do is to open your guidebooks and try to locate a good restaurant. We suggest that you

A New Amazon Review of 'Tripping 1975'!

" I totally enjoyed the book. I felt like I was 21 again and full of inspiration to travel and learn about everything in the world. Certainly difficult, and actually impossible, but I've always wanted to know "everything"--literally. Needless to say, I have not achieved that goal. But your book is both entertaining and inspirational. I admire you both for the courage to take a year for the trip". -Chuck #tripping1975 #vanlife #vantravel #campervan #vantraveling #vintageva

Our Favorite Restaurants in Paris: Part 1! - Cafe Le Procope

A recommendation (and sentimental tidbit) from Marshall Hockett, author of Tripping 1975: "Since Debbie and I frequently go to Paris, we thought it might be fun to share our favorite restaurants to compare with yours. Reservations would be an excellent idea. When you go to Paris, we strongly suggest you spend an evening at Cafe Le Procope. https://www.procope.com/… It's located in the Rue de L'Aancienne Comedie which is in the 6th arrondissement. It claims it is the oldest c
